The Sunday School is the Bible teaching Ministry of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church whose purpose is to lead the entire church and community to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ while serving Him in Worship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Ministries for all ages.

Lesson Text:    Leviticus 25:8-21, 23-24         

Key Verses:  “And ye shall hollow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you: and ye shall return every man unto his possessions, and ye shall return every man unto his family” (Leviticus 25:10)

Lesson Aim: This lesson deals with God’s plan to help the poor and needed by celebrating a time of “Jubilee” when land and people and all possessions would be given back to their original owners. This was done to honor God.  

 

Lesson Outline:  Leviticus 25:8-21, 23-24

  1. Meaning of the Jubilee – Leviticus 25:8-12
  2. Possessions Doing Jubilee – Leviticus 25:13-17
  3. The Crops Doing Jubilee – Leviticus 25:18-21
  4. The Land Doing Jubilee – Leviticus 25:23-24

 Questions:  

  1. What day did the Lord command Israelites to sound the trumpet announcing the Jubilee?
  2. According to God who does the land belong?
  3. What would happen if we launched a movement for Jubilee 2010?
  4. Write your plan to bring our nation out of the times we are living, home foreclosure, lost of jobs, elderly and the poor not able to get health care.  (you may want to send yours on to the white house/state house)

Lesson Text:    Deuteronomy 16:1-8            

Key Verses:  “Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night” (Deuteronomy 16:1)  

Lesson Aim: Study the meaning and significant of the Passover celebration. This lesson should move the Christian family to review significant dates of our lives.

 

  Lesson Outline:  Deuteronomy 16:1-8    

  1. Moses Reviewed the Passover – Deuteronomy 16:1-2
  1. Moses Gives Instructions on the Unleavened Bread – Deuteronomy 16:3-4
  1. Moses Gives the Israelites the Place of Worship – Deuteronomy 16:5-8

  1. What is the significant of the month of Abib?
  2. Describe the feast of Unleavened Bread or Passover.
  3. What is the meaning of verse one of chapter 5 as it relates to our study text today?
  4. Why was the Israelites instructed to eat only bread without leaven?
  5. How many days were the Israelites told to eat unleavened bread?

Background Study:   Deuteronomy 5:1-27

Lesson Text:    Deuteronomy 5:1-9, 11-13, 16-21        

 

Key Verses:  “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them” (from Deuteronomy 5:1)  

Lesson Aim: This lesson deals with the “Ten Commandments” given to Israel . In this lesson we learn about the “Covenant” God.  

 

Lesson Outline:  Deuteronomy 5:10, 11-13, 16-21  

  1. The Covenant at Mount Horeb – Deuteronomy 5:1-5
  1. The Ten Commandments – Deuteronomy 5:6-9, 11-13, 16-20

 

Questions:

 

  1. What is the Hebrew name for “Covet” and what is the meaning?
  2. Read verse one of our text, what three things did Moses covenant the Israelites to do?
  3. What does God say about His name being taken in vain?
  4. What is the meaning of a “Covenant God”?
  5. What was the reason for Moses rereading the covenant?
  6. What is the overall meaning of the first four commandments?
  7. What is the overall meaning of the last six commandments?
  8. What is the “Covenant” name for God, and its meaning?
  9. Under Grace, what need the Christian has for the Ten Commandments?
  10.  Read what Paul wrote in Roman 7; give meaning of verse 7-12.

Please join us on Wednesday’s at 10:30am – 11:30am or 7:15pm – 8:00pm for teacher’s preparation. All is welcome teachers and non teachers. Be a regular member of one our Sunday school classes, each Sunday 9:30am – 10:30am.

   

Note: All teachers are required to make teacher’s meetings prior to teaching – Teacher’s preparation is held weekly, Wednesday of each week, 10:30am – 11:30am ; 7:15pm – 8:00pm .
